One of the prominent teen activists from Sweden Greta Thunberg spoke to Congress on Wednesday saying that “listen to the scientists “ who were alerting everyone on global warming.
She wrote as a testimony instead of reporting or stating the issue to the “House Climate Crisis Committee and a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee.” She enclosure it with “landmark 2018 United Nations report, that alarmed the dangerous consequences that are coming our way.” Further, this issue will continue if the planet gets warmer by 1.5 degrees Celsius and more which is one step ahead of preindustrial levels.
Besides this, the “Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)” has stated that all the governments in the world should take an “unprecedented” step to control carbon release which brings bad effects on global warming.
Thunberg said: “I am submitting this report as my testimony because I don’t want you to listen to me, I want you to listen to the scientists,” Thunberg said. “I want you to unite behind the science. And then I want you to take real action. Thank you.”
Apart from her other young climate activists like “Jamie Margolin, co-founder of the Zero Hour youth climate campaign, Vic Barrett of Alliance for Climate Education, and Benji Backer of the American Conservation Coalition” were present.
Jamie commented that her age groups are dedicated to a universe that is falling and “Youth climate activism should not have to exist.” This statement of hers was released quickly when the Trump office had stated that it takes necessary steps in California and bring in stringent rules to reduce automobile emission.
One of the major reasons for global warming is the pollution emitted from automobiles. Within a short period of time, Greta has become one of the remarkable youth climate activists fighting for climatic issues. Earlier on Monday, she had met the former President of the United States Barack Obama who appreciated her as the “planets greatest advocates.” Following her statement on Wednesday, she said that she would approach the Supreme Court to join hands with a group that is fighting legally on climate changes prior to appearing at the House Ways and Means Committee.
After this, she will be seen participating in the “international day of youth climate protest,” which will begin from the city of New York. Speaking to the sources, she stated that: “I’m just trying to make as much difference as I can, especially in informing people, spreading awareness about the climate crisis,” “I think that is the key now, to inform people about this crisis.
Once everybody knows the importance of the issue it is expected that people will join together and fight for a change. With a survey taken by Washington Post-Kaiser Family Foundation, most of the teenagers in the U.S believe that this is true and are worried that global warming will create the worst impact in the upcoming days. So out of 4, 1 has begun to find ways to fight against this by organizing a rally, walkout or approaching legal advisors.
