It was a glitz and glamour evening which saw Black Cinema completing 100 years. And the event had Eddie Murphy who was laurelled with the Career Achievement Award at the Black Cinema given by the Critics Choice Association.

There were some of the popular attendees like Wesley Snipes, Nia Long, and Estelle who felicitated the actor while receiving the award. For this grand occasion, Murphy opted for a “black suit with velvet sleeves and paired it with a similar color lapel.”

Further, the collar was seen with matching silver crowns on either side of his shirt. He rounded off the look with black trousers and a classic black button-up chic blazer.

Eddie was appreciated for his contribution to taking up prominent characters in all his movies all through the years. His latest project for Netflix series “Dolemite is My Name,” takes back to a period where the black artists are trying to get them known to fans. The story is told via music.

Further, the CEO Joey Berlin of Critics Choice stated that: “’The Critics Choice Association is thrilled to help celebrate a century of black cinema.”

He added saying: “It is a privilege to honor Eddie Murphy, Kasi Lemmons, Nia Long, and Chiwetel Ejiofor for their remarkable work this year and throughout their careers. Each in their own way – through comedy and drama, in front of and behind the camera – exemplify the range and power of African American themed movies and their importance in popular culture.”

Besides, Nia Long also received the award for her character in the movie “The Banker.” Ace director Kasi Lemmons was also awarded for his latest flick Harriet.
