Selena Gomez, the famous singer of “Lose You to Love Me,” surprisingly accepted an invitation from a high school girls’ volleyball team to attend one of their matches over the weekend. She made a brief visit to Telluride High School on Saturday, August 31, in Telluride, Colorado, to shine a little light on the young athletes’ day.

Gomez was in the city for the Telluride Film Festival, where she was promoting her movie, “Emilia Pérez.” She seemed to have noticed a handwritten sign on a bright orange poster board that was attached to a Main Street pole.

The sign was addressed to her: “Selena Gomez,” it said, “Please sing the National Anthem at one of [our] home games: Fri 6:00 pm, Sat 1:00 ~ THS Volleyball Team.”

There are no signs about the national anthem sung by the singer, but she did show up to the high school gym to mingle with students.

Gomez also mentioned them in her weekend Instagram post captioning “They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!”

Also, the official Instagram handle of the high school posted the excitement with their group photo of the students along with the singer captioning “Thanks @selenagomez for visiting TMHS and giving ❤️ to our volleyball teams!”

Shrieks could be heard in the background of a video of Selena Gomez entering the volleyball court as fans, filming the celebrity, covered their mouths in surprise.

Scheduled for a November release in select theaters, the Spanish movie, “Emilia Pérez,” received an 11-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
