Lina Marcela Medina de Jurado (born 1939) from Peru became the youngest confirmed birth mother in the history of medicine by giving birth at the age of five years, seven months, and 21 days.

Lina’s parents took her to the hospital when they noticed an abnormal increase in the size of the abdomen when she was 5 years old. Doctors were expecting it to be a case of tumor only to find that she was in her 7th month of pregnancy.

One and a half months later, Lina gave birth to a boy through cesarean section aged 5 years, 7 months, and 21 days, the youngest known person in history to give birth. The C-section was necessary owing to her small pelvis with the surgery being carried out under anesthesia. While operating, doctors found that she already possessed fully mature sexual organs from early puberty. In fact, past reports even stated that she used to have regular periods as early as 3 years old.

Till today she refuses to tell who the father of her child is, or maybe it’s not possible for her to know. Her father was arrested for a brief period though, on grounds of sexual abuse of his own daughter.

She later grew up and went on to marry and have a second child when she was in her thirties.

The child she bore grew up to be a healthy male dying at the age of 40. She is still alive today.
