What are the terms of Britney’s conservatorship?
Britney Spears’ conservatorship had two parts, one for her dealing with her finances and assets and the other for her as a person. In the beginning, both the parts are controlled by her father Jamie Spears but in the year 2019 court replaced him with a caretaker for personal conservatorship citing the health reasons of Jamie Spears. Later, in 2021, an accountant was appointed as a conservator for her finances who was picked by Britney and her lawyer.
Following are the controls that Britney Spears’ conservatorship possessed:
A documentary was made revealing the ordeal and consequences faced by Britney Spears after being set into conservatorship. It showed that the singer’s phone and bedrooms were bugged by the security staff.
While arguing in the court, Britney Spears told the judge that “I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married and have a baby. This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”
“She has been faced with a decade-long nightmare, a Kafkaesque nightmare orchestrated by her father and others”, said her lawyer
This in fact triggered a social media campaign with the hashtag #FreeBritney where her fans, followers, and well-wishers voiced their support for her to get out of this conservatorship.
