The WHO had recently revealed that there’s no possibility of the infection getting spread from pet cats and dogs. But, in New York’s Bronx Zoo, the situation is vice versa.
A 4-year old Malayan tiger named Nadia is said to have contracted the virus from a zoo caretaker. This is the first case reported of an animal being infected by a person. The unidentified zoo worker had been tested positive with no symptoms as per the authorities.
The female cat is apparently doing well and is soon to get recovered, said the Zoo. More tests are being conducted about the infection spreading from a human to an animal. Since the virus is something very news to mankind and medicinal research is underway, detailed studies are necessary to analyze the communicability of the virus. Apart from Nadia, three other lions have also shown symptoms of cold and cough but are doing well according to the Zoo workers.
