Amazon Studios had acquired rights to a new prequel series to The Lord of the Rings back in November 2017, committing to a long term series. The possibility of coming up with a series gained traction in order to “explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring,”.
As per latest reports, the series is set in The Second Age, that goes way back in Middle-Earth history, thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
The show’s official Twitter account teased fans by posting a map of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy world. The series would seemingly focus on a young Aragorn, the human ranger played by Viggo Mortenson in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies.
The tweet read– “Welcome to the Second Age”
