The upcoming Golden Globes will consider movies that hit the screens as the similar criteria the 2021 Oscars followed that is from January 1st, 2020 to February 28th, 2021 as per Hollywood Foreign Press Association which stated on Monday.
Besides HFPA the Los Angeles based press for a channel from overseas that presents the Globes and it is the show that identifies movies and television work. But the period from which the TV shows will be recognized from January 1, 2020, until December 31st, 2020.
So movies and TV distributors are expected to gear up by November 30th, 2020 the final date which has to be submitted to HPFA. Further, the voting process will kick start from December 30th till Jan 12th and Globes movie nomination votes will start from Jan 30th. The nomination list will be released by Feb 3rd and the last voting for both will begin from Feb 10th to Feb 23rd.
As the Golden Globes commences in January the ongoing pandemic has pushed it to Feb 28th, 2021 the date which Oscars were said to be held but later it was pushed to April 25th.
Though there are only fewer days between the two events, this year has turned everything upside down.
Back in March, the organization stated that the novel coronavirus has given permission for films to be part of nominations that are yet to be released.
Further movies might get premiered “first on a television format (e.g. subscription streaming service, subscription cable channel, broadcast television, etc.) and will still be eligible.” The organization said that their “alternate screening procedure” as “temporary,” saying it goes into effect “March 15 until a date to be determined by HFPA when cinemas in the Los Angeles area have generally reopened.”
Earlier it was said that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be back to present the Globes for the 4th time and it will be produced by Dick Clark Productions which is associated with the parent firm of Hollywood Reporter that airs it live from 5 to 8 p.m. on NBC.
