As the lockdown keeps extending and people stuck at home here’s a list of series to entertain you for the following month.
I’ll Be Gone In The Dark (HBO, June 28th)
A 6 part doc series depicts the renowned tale of the later author Michelle McNamara and her investigation on ‘Golden State Killer’ who threatened California for decades from mid of 1970 to 80. Vulture says as “a tough, ultimately inspirational work about how life kicks the shit out of you and you just have to get through it somehow, coping with sadness and regret and PTSD because you don’t have a choice.”
As McNamara’s book was left incomplete post her death her husband Patton Oswalt enabled it to finish it. But the series will show not the murderer but how McNamara fights to get justice to him.
Warrior Nun (Netflix, July 2nd)
Ars Technica says that the upcoming Netflix drama Warrior Nun as “if Buffy the Vampire Slayer got religion” and that’s kind of enough to pique my interest if we’re being honest: “mystical portals to heaven (and/or hell)? Check. Badass nuns steeped in the martial arts? Check. A hot young love interest for Ava? Check. Lots of demon-slaying and a bit of comic relief? Check.” Adapted from the comic series “Warrior Nun Areala” the show is about a young girl who battles against the evil forces for the ancient ‘Order of the Cruciform Sword.’
