Taylor Swift stole the spotlight in the recent American Music Awards.
The Lover artist racked up a number of awards including the Favorite Album – Pop/Rock! for her album “Lover,” and taking home the most coveted Artist of the Decade award.
Previously the highest number of AMA (American music awards) held by none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
With AMA 2019, the 29-year old singer-songwriter has surpassed MJ’s record, toppling the Moonwalker to win 24 American Music Awards which is the highest as of now.
In her speech, she said “This is amazing…That was a really tough category… I didn’t think I was gonna win this one.” While acknowledging the award, she didn’t know that she had toppled MJ’s record. She was singing the praise of her recording label, attributing it to her success.
“I really love my record label, Universal Republic. Thank you for being so generous and letting me make whatever music I want to make,” Swift said, with excitement.
