Authorities have released the photo of the suspect in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. The suspect was named shortly after some mourners were reported to be injured at the Grammy-Nominated Rapper’s vigil when a stampede broke out outside his clothing store in Los Angeles on April 1.
Hussle was shot dead in LA on Sunday, March 31, near The Marathon Clothing Store, opened by him in 2017. His death came as a tragic shock to the hip-hop industry.
On April 2, the Los Angeles Police Department announced that they found a suspect named Eric Holder, 29. However, the LAPD had no clue about the suspect(s) behind this attack during. Two other people were also injured in the shooting.
The LAPD’s official Twitter account posted on April 1 read, “Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100.”
In the press release that followed the twitter post, the LAPD released further details about the suspect: “The suspect ran southbound through an adjacent alley to a waiting vehicle. The suspect entered the passenger side of the vehicle and fled the area.”
Celebs including Rihanna, John Legend, Drake and also the Mayor of LA, Eric Garcetti expressed their grief on Nipsey’s sudden demise.
Born as Ermias Davidson Asghedom, Nipsey was a well known figure in Los Angeles since the mid-2000s. He earned widespread acclaim for his three-part mixtape series, “Bullets Ain’t Got No Name”. He had worked with renowned rappers like Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and YG. Nipsey created some buzz while pulling off a major feat in 2013, selling 1,000 physical copies of his Crenshaw mixtape at $100 a pop. His debut studio album, 2018’s Victory Lap, was nominated for the Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
