After six years, the Avengers are finally assembling again for yet another blockbuster following Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios, in their five-and-a-half-hour live stream, revealed the entire cast of Avengers: Doomsday. The cast is a mix of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) mainstays, X-Men veterans, the upcoming stars of Fantastic Four: First Steps, and other notable actors, including Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Chris Evans, who are expected to appear in at least one of the two parts.
The announced cast includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon), and Winston Duke (M’Baku). Marvel’s upcoming releases also feature characters from anti-hero team movies like Thunderbolts, with Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman (currently listed as a character named Bob) joining the stage.
The cast reveal also brought back the X-Men with actors Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), who helped kick off the modern superhero movie era with 2000’s X-Men. They will be joined by X2: X-Men United’s Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who also appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand and recently had a cameo in The Marvels. Additionally, Channing Tatum, who was once attached to a long-rumored Gambit movie, will officially debut in Deadpool & Wolverine before joining Doomsday.
Joining the ensemble are the members of the new Fantastic Four cast: Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch). To further surprise fans, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, known for his portrayal of Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, also made an appearance during the casting event.
Rumors suggest that the casting reveal isn’t over, with some sources indicating additional actors may be announced soon. The event concluded dramatically with the reveal of Robert Downey Jr. — but not as Iron Man. Instead, he will be portraying Doctor Doom. Dressed in a suit and tie, Downey silenced the crowd with a sly “shhh” gesture to the camera, leaving fans in awe.
Marvel first announced Avengers: Doomsday to massive fanfare at San Diego Comic-Con in July. The surprising reveal of Downey’s return to the MCU, after Tony Stark’s emotional send-off in Endgame, sparked excitement. This move reunites Downey, one of Marvel’s most bankable stars, with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who had previously departed the MCU after Endgame. The Russo Brothers are now returning, with their frequent screenwriting collaborator Stephen McFeely taking the lead on the script.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on May 1, 2026, with the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, slated for May 7, 2027.
