Marvel fans, the wait is finally over.
Disney-owned, Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” has finally surpassed “Avatar” to become the world’s highest-grossing film of all time, less than 3 months after the film decimated several box office opening weekend records.
The feat consolidates Disney’s position as the King of Box Office and secures its reign as the Entertainment giant. The fact that since 2012, it has had the highest-grossing movie every year is a solid proof of that.
Disney revealed that it had earned $2,790.2 million in revenue on Sunday for “Avengers: Endgame,” compared to $2,789.7 million scored by James Cameron’s 2009 science fiction film “Avatar”. Avatar’s 10-year reign as the highest-grossing global release of all time has come to an end.
Disney is a Media Mogul of sorts.
Ever since it acquired Fox Studios splashing $71.3 billion, it has made it a point to bet big on hit franchises of Marvel and Star Wars. In the animation segment, it’s got Pixar up its sleeve. Disney rakes in about 40% of all the 100 top-grossing films. Interestingly, Avatar also sits in the lap of Disney and Avatar 2 is set to release in 2021.
Disney is set for an Entertainment monopoly. And as of now, they are unstoppable.
