Swedish YouTuber and comedian Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie has announced a temporary retirement from his YouTube channel which has amassed a mammoth 102 million subscribers and 24 billion video views spanning over ten years.

He announced his break on the PewsNews, informing viewers that he’ll be on an indefinite hiatus in the New Year with his return date uncertain.

He announced–“I am taking a break from YouTube next year. I wanted to say it in advance because I made up my mind. I’m tired. I’m feeling very tired. I don’t know if you can tell. Just so you know, early next year I’ll be away for a little while. I’ll explain that later but I wanted to give a heads up.”

Felix rose to fame live-streaming himself playing Minecraft. Though reasons for the separation are still uncertain, Felix had garnered some bad reputation lately for his antics.

He was slammed by users back in 2017 for using the n-word against another player. He is also considered a glorious symbol for while supremacists, facing accusations of racism and antisemitism from time to time. This was pretty much evident when the Christchurch far-right white supremacist who shot 51 Muslims in mosques, live-streaming the entire shooting online, ended up saying “subscribe to PewDiePie.”

Other antics of his include mocking Demi Lovato’s drug overdose, comparing the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh (which got him banned in China) and paying two men from India to hold up a signboard that said “Death to All Jews.”

No offense to his brain-dead fans but it’s a good thing he’s off YouTube, though only for a while.

All good things indeed have to come to an end. No matter on which end you’re on.

At least 2019 is ending on a good note.
