Country Music Trio Changes Their Band Name From Dixie Chicks to Chicks!

If you are aware of the Dixie Chicks then they are no more in the same name as they have dropped Dixie and are just Chicks. The Grammy award winners for the country music officially confirmed it on Thursday.

The band comprises Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer, and Martie Maguire, and the trio women musicians have not responded to the reason for dropping Dixie yet. With their official site reading: “We want to meet this moment,” all their other social media handles were changed to ‘@thechicks’ and their representative has released their latest song in the name “March March.”

The news comes after another country trio group Lady Antebellum stated that they will be called as “Lady A.” This change was done as their earlier name referred to a ‘pre-Civil War’ slavery period. And some went on to think in social media whether the Dixie will also have a name change as it is associated with the Confederate South.

In a post, the Chicks also came across the same name with a New Zealand band that was also the ‘Chicks.’ So they made necessary measures on prior as Lady A had a backlash with a blues singer in Seattle who had the same name.

In a note, it said: “A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out to ‘The Chicks’ of NZ for their gracious gesture in allowing us to share their name,” the band said. “We are honored to co-exist together in the world with these exceptionally talented sisters. Chicks Rock!”
