Alec Baldwin has filed a lawsuit against the ‘Rust’ crew members for their negligence on Nov 11, Friday. The ‘30 Rock’ actor faced a lawsuit in February by the family of Halyna Hutchins, who was fatally shot dead in a shooting scene on October 21, 2021. Hutchins, 42 by then was a cinematographer.
The actor was given a loaded gun during the shoot and in the accident, the director of photography died due to the live bullets. The director of the film, Joel Souza, 49, was in shock and rushed to hospital. This tragic incident caused a wave in the entertainment industry resulting in high severity of safety checks.
“This tragedy happened because live bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun, Gutierrez-Reed failed to check the bullets or the gun carefully, Halls failed to check the gun carefully and yet announced the gun was safe before handing it to Baldwin, and Zachry failed to disclose that Gutierrez-Reed had been acting recklessly off set and was a safety risk to those around her,” Alec’s attorney Luke Nikas written in the document filed on Nov 11, Friday.
The complaint also alleges that Baldwin wants to “clear his name” and he is not responsible for the crew’s carelessness, and “misconduct”.
“I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin),” Halyna’s husband said in a statement in October. “All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident.”
Baldwin may have settled with Halyna’s family, but he is still strangling between the lawsuits associated with the tragedy.
