Rapper Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, has been convicted of murder for the second time. The 24-year-old is already serving a 55-year sentence for his role in a 2016 home invasion that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker. Now, he faces an additional 5 to 99 years in prison following his conviction for the 2017 killing of photographer Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio, Texas .
In April 2017, while on the run after escaping house arrest, McIntyre and associates arranged a photoshoot with Saldivar. During the meeting, Saldivar was robbed at gunpoint for his camera equipment and fatally shot following an altercation .
McIntyre was found guilty of murder but acquitted of capital murder, which would have mandated a life sentence without parole. His defense argued that the investigation relied heavily on biased witness statements .
Tay-K gained notoriety in 2017 with his viral hit “The Race,” released while he was evading authorities. The song, which has amassed over 250 million views on YouTube, became emblematic of his brief rise in the hip-hop scene .
This latest case echoes another recent headline involving rapper Killah Dre, who was accused of killing a police sergeant, sparking a national conversation about rising violence in the rap community.
With this latest conviction, McIntyre’s legal troubles continue to mount, and he now awaits sentencing for his second murder conviction.
