Lainey Wilson, the American country singer-songwriter, is now adding a new title to her impressive list. The singer announced her engagement to her boyfriend, Devlin Hodges, who is also known as Devlin “Duck,” the former quarterback of the Ottawa Redblacks team. She announced her engagement on Instagram, captioned “4x4xU forever,” referring to her track “4x4xU” off her latest album, Whirlwind.
The couple met through mutual friends in Nashville and have been seeing each other since 2021. Wilson and Hodges stepped out publicly for the first time at the ACM Awards in 2023. She recalls her first date that was known for its cheap drinks and live music. Then she said, “We went to this old place called Silverados, and it had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 p.m.,” and “I was like, ‘This boy likes to ball on a budget too. This is gonna work out.’” Since then, the two just hit it off and have kept their relationship private.
After retiring from sports, Devlin has been keen on investing in real estate and takes his work seriously. Lainey was nominated for Best Country Album for her work in Whirlwind. Even though Beyonce bagged the award for her Cowboy Carter album, Wilson has been nominated twice in a row in the category.
At the 2025 Grammys, the singer did not give any hints about her engagement, while she was performing, honoring Quincy Jones, and the wildfires in Los Angeles. Her announcement came days after her performance.
The couple shared their golden moments on Instagram, where Hodges is proposing to Wilson. She is also seen accepting his proposal. The soon-to-be bride also shared a black and white picture of Devlin holding a small cowboy hat as she was putting on her ring. A short clip of her walking down the stairs and saying “boo” as she held up her hand in front of the camera made it the perfect engagement announcement.
