Known for her popular film Scarlett O’ Hara, Vivien Leigh was a queen of Hollywood. Her performance spoke volumes and she created a niche for herself amidst her peers.

Born in 1913 she went on to do theatre shows and then did several movies that brought her awards. She won 2 Oscars for best actress for the movies “Gone with the Wind in 1939 and A Streetcar Named Desire in 1951.” She was also lauded for her Broadway musical film Tovarich in 1963.

Vivien was born in British India in Darjeeling which was then in the Bengal Presidency.

She made her debut in theatres as a 3 yr old for her mom’s theatre group for reading the famous lines from “Little Bo Peep.”

She was originally known as Vivien Mary Hartley but so she went on to go in the name of Vivien Leigh as Leigh was the family name of her spouse Herbert Leigh Holman who was an attorney.

Her debut was for the role of high school girl for the movie “Things are Looking Up” which was an unaccredited character.

Her main appearance for the film “Fire Over England in 1937” helmed by Laurence Oliver.

She opted for the famous film Scarlet O’ Hara surpassing prominent actresses Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Paulette Goddard and so on.

Her last movie was Ship of fools and later died in the year 1967.
