You might have come across the #OzempicFace on Twitter, TikTok or Instagram lately. What is it and why is it trending?
Well, Ozempis is a drug used to treat Type 2 diabetes and obesity and recently comedian Chelsea Handler spoke about how celebs in Hollywood use it as a weight loss drug, including herself. Ever since that, many have been dragged through the troll mud for it.
Ozempic has a compound called semaglutide which can be injected once a week or daily in the stomach, thigh or arm. It helps the pancreas release insulin to lower blood sugar AND it also slows down food movement in the stomach. The result is decreased appetite and eventually weight loss.
“I came back from a vacation and I injected myself with it. I went to lunch with a girlfriend a few days later, and she was like, ‘I’m not really eating anything. I’m so nauseous, I’m on Ozempic,’ and I was like, ‘I’m kind of nauseous too,” Chelsea Handler said.
People who use the drug for a quick weight loss purposes see results but their faces begin to sag as a side effect. Medics are warning against the abuse of FDA-approved Ozempic saying it leads to a younger-looking body but an older-looking face.
Celebrities like Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Khloe Kardashian and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Kyle Richards have been trolled for using. They both have clapped back saying, they work out.
