The 2019 Met Gala was a costly affair, with celebrities taking turns dazzling us on the red carpet with their eccentric and jaw-dropping fashion. From Ezra Miller’s illusional display to Lady Gaga stealing the show, the paparazzi now has enough material to debate the best and worst fashion tastes for weeks.
However, let’s not forget the main purpose of a Met Gala– to raise enough money for museums so that they can fund exhibitions and publications in arts and history. The money is also used to bolster the infrastructure and make capital improvements.
This year’s Met gala generated $15 million for the Metropolitan Museum of Art compared to $13 million in 2018. That’s quite a fortune for the museum!
