Disney is pulling off its Marvel superhero shows from Netflix and racking them in their own Disney+ subscription. This leaves Netflix with a huge void in the superhero genre in its catalog. The Umbrella Academy (by Dark Horse comics, the same comics that created Hellboy) was brought into the picture to provide steady quality in its comic-based TV audience.
Netflix now claims that the same comic book adaptation garnered a massive worldwide viewership in its first month. According to the company, the series has been viewed by more than 45 million households.
It’s interesting to note that, Netflix considers ‘viewed’ if a user has watched at least 70 percent of one episode of a series or 70 percent of a film.
The Umbrella Academy is renewed for a second season.
