The 97th Academy Awards is set to take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025. It is scheduled to be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Conan O’Brien will be on the mantle for the first time. The Academy confirmed the news on November 15, releasing a hilarious video of the five-time Emmy winner and first-time Academy Award host pretending to accept an Oscar himself.
The 61-year-old former late-night host had his own comical and witty way of addressing the opportunity. He said, “America demanded it and now it’s happening.”
The post comment was,
“Conan O’Brien is officially your 97th Oscars host!
Tune into the biggest night in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2nd at 7e/4p, LIVE on @ABCNetwork! #Oscars @TeamCoco @ConanOBrien”
In a joint statement from the Academy CEO, Bill Kramer, and president, Janet Yang, the pair said they were “thrilled and honored” to have O’Brien hosting.
“He is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humor, his love of movies and his live TV expertise,” they said. “His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best – honor the spectacular films and film-makers of this year.”
