The former ‘‘American Idol’ star came out as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. The 30 years old songwriter revealed his sexuality, faith and urged for compassion toward LGBTQIA+. He also shared his struggles with his sexuality.

Archuleta is one of the best-known American singer-songwriters. He became a Junior Vocal Champion on the 2nd season of Star Search called “Star Search ” when he was 12. Archuleta finished 2nd on the American Idol season seven.
Archuleta is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also called Mormons. He also stated that he has been unsure of his sexuality and how much he has struggled with this uncertainty with his faith in religion.

The singer shared a heart-melting message on Instagram and expressed this in his lengthy post,
“I like to keep to myself but also thought this was important to share because I know so many other people from religious upbringings feel the same way.” “I’ve been open to myself and my close family for some years now that I am not sure about my own sexuality. I came out in 2014 as gay to my family. But then I had similar feelings for both genders so maybe a spectrum of bisexual. Then I also have learned I don’t have too many sexual desires and urges as most people, which works, I guess, because I commit to saving myself until marriage. Which people call asexual when they don’t experience sexual urges.”

The singer continued in his post, “I think we can do better as people of faith and Christians, including Latter-day Saints, to listen more to the struggle between being LGBTQIA+ and a person of faith.” “I don’t think it should come down to feel you have to accept one or the other. For me to find peace the reality has been to accept both are real things I experience and make who I am…. You can be part of the LGBTQIA+ community and still believe in God and His gospel plan.”

He has revealed his religious faith and spent 2 years as a missionary in Chile.
Like several Christian churches, the LDS Church also followed the law that homosexual activity and same-sex marriage are forbidden by God. But in 2019, the Church changed its stance on same-sex marriage. At the same time, same-sex marriage is still deemed taboo or “a serious transgression”. This activity was officially opposed by the LDS Church.

He concluded with a message that “Even if you’re left with so many more questions with faith and sexuality like me I believe being open to both questions and to faith is how we receive answers.” “God blesses those who ask. So let’s keep asking and seeking, and having compassion and patience.”

Many people praised him for his recent post. His most recent studio album, Therapy Sessions, dropped in May 2020.
