Lineups for Cannes 2020 to Be Revealed Next Week!

The most prestigious film festival of the year Cannes is set to reveal its list of lineups for 2020 the following week. Further, it will also unveil substitute titles that will not be premiered in Cannes but will be screened in other International festivals.

The unveiling of lists was made as there will be no physical presence of celebrities due to the ongoing COVID-19. So, the director of the event Thierry Frémaux will come up with 50 titles for this year’s label which will be premiered at associate fests in the coming days.

During a chat with the source from The Hollywood, Frémaux stated that the substituting event will never be like Cannes that was for decades. Except Paul Verhoeven’s widely expected homosexual nun movie Benedetta which has been postponed to 2021 the others which hit the screens this year will be curated on the list.

Some of the movies on the list include Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria, Naomi Kawase’s Comes Morning, and Thomas Vinterberg’s pre-drinking drama Another Round and so on. Besides, the complete list of movies will be revealed on June 3 at 6.pm of their time.

The list will be aired live in French Channel Canal+ and also on the official webpage of Cannes and its social media handle.

As of the following week’s unveiling Thierry has given a hint on his ideas for this year Cannes and believes that this label can revive COVID-19 affected industry.
