First Case Of Coronavirus Reported In US

Alarming the US healthcare authorities, the first case of Coronavirus virus is reported in the United States. The deadly Wuhan Coronavirus infects a 30-year-old man in the town of Everett last week and had been admitted in hospital and monitored closely by the centre for disease control.

Initial reports revealed that the infected individual travelled recently to Chinese city of Wuhan where the subjective virus outbreak is assumed to have started.

The news spiked fear and caution around the United States as the deadly virus already killed six people and sickened hundreds in and around Asian countries. The virus hits the respiratory organs and believed to be very immune to normal antibiotics.

Currently, all the travellers who’re travelling back from Asia are screened for any infections.

The Washington Post said the man travelled back to Washington state before health officials began screening travellers from Wuhan at Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York’s John F Kennedy international airports from January 17 onwards.

As of now, the man was being treated and remains in a stable condition at the Providence Regional Medical Centre in Everett, in Snohomish County, located 30 miles north of Seattle.

“He slipped past the screening, so to speak,” said Mr Lindquist, who said the man had been sent to the hospital out of an “abundance of caution” and in order to better monitor him.

“He’s a nice man. He’s cooperating,” he said. Officials said the man said he had not visited any of the markets in Wuhan reportedly connected withe virus, or encountered anyone who was ill.

Officials in Washington state said the man, who was not identified, was not considered a threat to medical staff or the public.

“We believe the risk to the public is low,” Chris Spitters, a senior official at Snohomish Health District, told reporters.
