Maitland Stewart otherwise known as James or Jimmy Stewart hails from Indiana, Pennsylvania, U.S Born on “20th May 1908 he pursued his education in Architecture from Princeton University in 1932.”

During his time of the study, he participated in various plays and there he happened to meet his then-best friend Henry Fonda. He then went on to do play in Broadways which did not do well. After much struggle, he made his first appearance in films starting with “The Murder Man,” in 1935 alongside Spencer Tracy.

Later James was sent to Columbia to do 2 movies for Frank Capra which was a turning point in his career. Further, his films “You Can’t Take It with You in 1938” and “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington 1939” which was nominated for the Oscars. The following year he won the academy award for The Philadelphia Story in 1940.

When war broke out in Europe, America was part of it and during that time Stewart joined the forces in March 1941. He was put along with the Air police and flew for 1800 hrs to 20 bombed locations. Prior to him becoming a civilian in 1945 he had upgraded to colonel and had been garnered with “Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the Croix de Guerre.” He continued to be in the force till 1968 and was later positioned as Brigadier General in 1959.

After reliving from his service he was unable to get apt characters in films but he still remained one of the finest actors in that era. All credits to the talk shows and TV series he had appeared. Adding to this he had received the most prestigious awards and Presidential Medal of Freedom which is the highest civilian award in the U.S
