Who does not love ice cream when it is availed in lip-smacking tastes? Yes, this has happened at Chapman Elementary in Northwest Portland. It is two cousin’s Kim and Tyler Malek who found “Salt and Straw” in 2011 and comes with a unique flavor of ice cream which has created hype amidst children.
It was witnessed when the corridors of Chapman school were running with whiny shoes and panting breaths. The kids entered into Mr. Schrieb’s 5th standard classroom and were stuck in awe seeing the ice cream. Farm to table is a creative initiative that has enhanced the food industry and several ice cream shops.
These local towns have inspired many restaurants to come with different flavors and have been emphasized in varied travel guides as a must-visit place. As of West Coast places, this ice cream parlor makes sure to bring in new flavors every September making kids go crazy.
The Salt & Straw have branches across 6 localities in and around the West Coast. It has an array of flavors such as “Arbequina Olive Oil, Green Apple Mayo Sherbet, Smoked Hefeweizen, Caramel Corn on the Cob and other crazy concoctions.” The specialty is the cousins ensure to come up with impossible ideas.
It’s quite difficult to grasp children’s desires as grownups but the owners of Salt and Straw making their dreams come true. Hats off to these creators! Well looking forward to many more infusions to come in the future.
